P'rea Press

Andrew J McKiernan is an Australian speculative fiction writer and Illustrator. He currently lives on the Central Coast of New South Wales with his wife and two children. Andrew supplied cover and internal illustrations for Richard L Tierney's Savage Menace and Other Poems of Horror.

The Australian Poetry Centre and The Poets Union merged to form Australian Poetry Ltd in 2011. It's website says: "It is the peak industry body for poetry in this country, based at the Wheeler Centre in Melbourne, with a charter to promote and support Australian poets and poetry locally, regionally, nationally and internationally."

P'rea Press is a member of Australian Poetry Ltd and hopes to influence the organisation in its appreciation and embrace of imaginative poetry.

Earl Livings is a writer, editor, poet, and teacher from Melbourne. He specialises in the imaginative art. The link takes you to his occasional journal blogspot in which he discusses the writing craft.

A link for Kyla Lee Ward, well published author, poet, artist, actor. Kyla is active and influential in the macabre and fantasy genres in Australia. P'rea Press published her first weird poetry collection, The Land of Bad Dreams in Sept 2011.

Blackmausoleum is a dedicated online site for Leigh Blackmore, writer, poet, editor, researcher, occultist and notable Australian authority on weird literature. His main pursuits include horror and science fiction writing and occult practice.

P'rea Press published Blackmore's first collection of weird poetry in a first Australian edition and revised reprint, titled Spores from Sharnoth and Other Madnesses, 2008, 2010, and 2013. P'rea gave permission for a variant U.K. chapbook edition by Rainfall Books, titled Sharnoth's Spores and Other Seeds, 2010. 

Of Science and Swords is one of Australia's premier fantasy and science fiction bookstores. Their subtitle is "Books from another world." That may well be the case. There are non-Euclidean dimensional portals secretly if poorly hidden behind shelves. Strange arms come out of black holes to grab back the books! They haven't finished reading ...

It is the P'rea belief that Smiles Books is Australia's most fabulous second-hand bookseller, because the books are old world and they are fantasy. Bookseller extraordinaire Nick Smiles, boasts pulp magazines and weird poetry volumes from the 1800s, rubbing shoulders with fantastic adventures from the twentieth century onwards. He has Lovecraft and Smith titles. He is also an Australian Tolkien expert. Perhaps you might like some books that you can't get this side of The Milky Way? You may find this bookseller all Smiles!

Will Hart's photostream and miscellaneous Lovecraftiana on the web is an awe-inspiring thing. From Richard L. Tierney sculptures to the streets of Lovecraft's Providence, to the readings of poems and fiction (by Lovecraft and Tierney), to the photos of fabled authors and esoteric conventions, his website is a wizard's cave of exotic Lovecraftian delights.

Chad Muller is a fellow publisher who contacted me recently. He has put forward the rather strange and marvellous AIM HIGH of Joseph A. West. West is an elderly gent of the American mid-West and AIM HIGH is his volume full of astonishing and irreverent verse, artwork and prose, a lifetime's work of weird fun and fantasy. Chad personally hand sews and binds his books, a kind of cottage industry unto himself. There's shoold be more of 'em!

These sumptuous volumes of beauty collect the letters of Edgar Allan Poe. Published by Gordian Press in 2008 with much additional material on the first edition (1966).

P'rea's great friend at Hippocampus Press, Derrick Hussey, is a man after the mantle of out-Arkhaming Arkham House itself! His outstanding and expanding array of H. P. Lovecraft-related items and his gathering of other authors of cosmic repute under the Hippocampus Press spiderweb insignia have become legendary in double quick time. One can feel Lovecraft's head in the ether nodding approval at Derrick's work. And his work is not yet done!

The Lovecraft eZine is a lively affair. It is run by Mike Davis (who threatens to make the stars come just right ...)

The Science Fiction Poetry Association (SFPA) was "founded in 1978 to bring together poets and readers interested in science fiction poetry" and, like space itself, is still going strong. It produces its flagship Star*Line magazine quarterly, the fabulous annual Rhysling Anthology, and a variety of awards for excellence in imaginative verse of every striped and rouladed colour.

The astonishing S. T. Joshi is the world's foremost authority on H. P. Lovecraft, and recently published I AM PROVIDENCE: THE LIFE AND TIMES OF H. P. LOVECRAFT, a massive, nearly 1200-page biography of the great fantasy man. Joshi's tireless devotion to the study of the weird and supernatural fantasy genre, amongst so many other equally dedicated pursuits, is in its scope as epic as it is legendary, and in its quality of rendition as exhaustive as it is insightful and thorough.

The H. P. Lovecraft Archive may be the most dynamic Lovecraft site on the whole internet and planet. The links to the literature of Lovecraft, on Lovecraft, to unearthly places, and to places also terrene which yield up their uncanny and ancient wisdoms of Lovecraftiana for all, are not to be missed.
